FAQ

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about community farm days. Since we receive a high volume of individual emails, kindly check this list for your question before emailing us.

Please review our Frequently Asked Questions below for more information.

Who is welcome to attend?
Everyone! Please register for the community day via the Eventbrite links on our website. People of all ages and all skill levels are welcome. Tickets must be purchased for everyone aged 2 years and older. For those bringing young children, plan to provide consistent supervision and support.

Who will be there?
Community farm days are one of the few times we are open to the public, so a range of ages, geographies, and ethnicities are represented. Some people may be completely new to ideas of food justice, farming, or racial justice. For those who have been to the farm during immersions or another caucus space – this is different – there are generally more white people than at other times on the farm. Everyone who comes agrees to our safe space commitments and generally the energy has been beautiful and synergistic.

How do I buy tickets?
Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite via the link on our website.

Is there a cost?
We ask for a modest donation to cover the cost of lunch. Please let us know if this is a barrier for you by emailing programs@soulfirefarm.org, as no one is turned away for lack of funds.

Do you offer group registration?
Group registration may be offered on select days to groups with participants 16 years and older. Dates will be published on our website. Group size is limited to a maximum of 15 people.

What is the suggested group honorarium amount?
Suggested donation of $15 per person.

How do I request group registration for my organization?
To request to register a group, (1) Complete the Group Interest Form (2) Await a response including registration instructions if date is available (3) Pay the invoice we’ll send you. *Due to high demand, groups are confirmed on a first come, first serve basis.

Once confirmed for a date, how do I pay for my group?
The primary contact will receive a Quickbooks Invoice from our bookkeeper for the honorarium amount indicated on the group interest form.

What paperwork am I required to complete before attending.
All attendees are required to complete the liability waiver. A link to the waiver is emailed upon completion of registration. If you are bringing children, please indicate their names under “My children’s names are” on your waiver form.

Eventbrite says the date I want to attend is sold out, what should I do?
Registration is offered on a first come, first serve basis. If individual tickets are sold out, you can “join the waitlist” on Eventbrite. Tickets will be made available if cancellations occur.

What should I bring for the potluck?
SFF will continue to provide the main course, but folks are welcome to add something special to it! There are no dietary restrictions on what you can bring, but please clearly label the ingredients for your dish so people can make their choices. Cold-serve foods only.

What clothing and supplies should I bring?
Bring a reusable water bottle. Check and dress for the weather, planning to get dirty and to be outside for hours. Depending on the day, this might means – raincoat, work boots, sun hat, work gloves, etc. You may also want to pack a change of clothes for the way home.

What should I NOT bring?
Please do not bring your dog. Please do not bring disposable water bottles. Please limit the amount of processed, corporate food that you bring for the potluck.

What is the schedule? Can I arrive early or stay later?
10:00-10:20 Welcome and Orientation
10:20-12:30 Work & Learn block
12:30-1:15 Lunch
1:15-3:00 Work & Learn block
3:00-3:30 Tour and Q&A on Soul Fire Farm (optional)

Please explicitly ask before coming early or staying late. Since our home and workspace are so intertwined, we have to put intention into carving out work time and family time.

I can’t make the day I registered for, can I reschedule my participation?
Please email programs@soulfirefarm.org including your name and the new date you would like to attend? If that date is available, we will transfer your registration. If it is not available, we will offer you a refund. Per Eventbrite policy, the Eventbrite fee is non-refundable.

Any house rules I should consider?
We don’t wear outside shoes in the house, in order to keep the space clean. There is a bathroom in the barn and porta potties that are “shoes allowed” for easy access. We adhere to “safer space” guidelines.

How do I get there and where do I park?
You can find detailed directions on our website here, Please take care not to turn around in any neighbor’s driveways or speed. Park far over to the right along the driveway or in the parking lot and do not block anyone in.

Can I stay over?
We are unable to provide accommodations at this time. For those traveling from far away, please consider this list of local accommodations.
