Greetings friends,
I will be on Sabbatical from June through December 2023.
I am so grateful for your support of this period of refresh and reset, which is profoundly necessary after two decades of steadfast labor and unwavering dedication to the work. This sabbatical is also a powerful opportunity for Soul Fire Farm to move into our deeper levels of distributed leadership and shared responsibility. We see Soul Fire as a generational project that will live and breathe far beyond the co-founders, and this means building in cyclical opportunities for leadership, work, and rest for each of us.
During this Sabbatical my full time “job” will be listening to the earth. This means I will be spending a lot of time hiking, paddling, biking, running, camping, birding, foraging, meditating, and watching the sky. I will tune in to the instructions of the earth and heed this voice for next steps in my work and life.
You can support this Sabbatical by:
- Recommending sacred and spectacular natural places for me to immerse myself in
- Inviting me to join you for earth-listening adventures outdoors
- Planning your requests, so that I can complete any important collaborative work before June 2023
- NOT asking me to make an exception for the work task you have in mind
- Trusting and supporting those in leadership at SFFI to carry our work forward
- Sending me notes of love and encouragement, acknowledging that “hard work, excellence, and sacrifice” are my bedrock, and it’s hard for me to imagine any other way of being
I intend to return to Soul Fire Farm after Sabbatical with renewed clarity of purpose and zest for the beautiful collective work we share. I’m pacing myself for the long game, fam!
