Hillary Gaeta, Director of Operations, (she/her/ella) is passionate about envisioning and working towards a world where people are healed by self-determination and collaboration in justice. She rejoices in the memories of growing up in the Dominican Republic: learning about her ancestors’ ties to farming, running barefoot through the lush vegetation of her ancestral land and climbing trees to snack on mangoes and cherries. Those memories were in stark juxtaposition to the realities she experienced as an immigrant in this country. Her experiences informed her of the importance of language, food sovereignty and the ways in which they are inextricably tied to the land. She honors her enthusiasm for justice work as an avid student and a compassionate communicator. Her goal is to leverage her 5+ years of business acumen to analyze and extricate the belief that organizations in the food system need to be beholden to a zero-sum paradigm to succeed.
