Last Sunday, October 23, Jay and Wanda travelled up from NYC and DC respectively to spend the day learning and helping at our farm. We are so honored and blessed by their decision to share time with us. We planted 19 pounds of garlic, about 300 linear feet. The work was satisfying and the sunlit day lovely.
The Black Farmers and Gardeners Conference was profound in so many ways. We are beginning to work on national policy change to reform the EBT (food stamp) program to be more small farm compatible. We are networking with folks doing international sustainable agriculture that will inform our work in Haiti and Brazil this winter. But, best of all – we are building relationships with other Black Farmers. Thanks Jay and Wanda for keeping the connection strong.
